Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach, California on 24 August 1972. DuVernay was inspired to follow her passion of art through her aunt Denise when she was a child. Her aunt worked the night shift as a nurse, so she could follow her passion for theater and art during the day. DuVernay was introduced to the 1961 movie West Side Story by her aunt. DuVernay was taught by her that art could be an effective tool for social change. DuVernay had a mother who was well-informed and taught her how she could use art as a method of expressing herself. Even though DuVernay lived in Compton and with her extended family, she lived with her family in Lowndes County Alabama where her father's family lived for generations. Her father recalled the civil rights protests on the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the close town of Selma Alabama. The time spent in Selma, Alabama during the summers that DuVernay was were later the inspiration to create a documentary on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as the Civil Rights Movement. DuVernay was awarded her high school diploma from Saint Joseph High School, Lakewood California in 1990. DuVernay went to the University of California Los Angeles when she graduated, where she earned diplomas in English as well as African American Studies. While she was still a student DuVernay started to become interested in producing the broadcast media. She began working as an intern at CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was assigned to sit at the home of one member of the jury as well as go through their garbage. After being disappointed in journalistic work by the assignments she was assigned, she was inspired to start a new career in public relations. DuVernay began her work as a junior public relations assistant for a film studio that was small, right after graduating from the college. She founded The DuVernay Agency, her agency for public relations, in the year 1999. Alongside PR, her agency also launched several social media and lifestyle networks, including those like the Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley is born with the birth symbol. She is an actress, well-known for her roles in American Experience (1987) and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn was seen as Rose and Anna Payne from A More Perfect Union.

Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania.
