Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was part of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform and the Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
